Focus

Ben joined ClientEarth in May 2023 and is based in Los Angeles. His work focuses on addressing flows of capital in the context of climate change and innovative use of non-traditionally-environmental law (ie securities and commercial law) for environmental ends.

Experience

Prior to joining ClientEarth, Ben worked as a litigator at both a large international firm and a small litigation boutique. As part of litigation teams, he was awarded the Surfrider Foundation Wavemaker award (for work on chemical spills in Lake Michigan) and the ACLU of Southern California Humanitarian Award (for work on mitigating COVID-19 in the Orange County Jail). He has significant experience in both commercial and public-entity-related civil litigation, including serving as trial counsel for a plaintiff in a 9-figure dispute that settled favourably during jury deliberations.

Education

Ben hold a JD, with honors, from the University of Chicago, an MFA in fiction from UC San Diego, and a BA from Hampshire College.
